How are claims handled?
The managers employ a specialist team of in-house barristers to handle all claims and notifications. In all cases they seek to assist members in resolving disputes with their clients or taking remedial action to mitigate the effect of errors. A committee of the Board which consists of eight attorneys assists the managers by providing them with procedural and technical advice on individual notifications. To preserve confidentiality, the claims committee receives anonymous summaries of each notification made.
Individual claims records are not taken into account in assessing the premium that should be paid by each member and members are encouraged to notifiy potential problems as soon as possible to provide the managers and claims committee with an early opportunity to provide loss mitigation advice.
